Some spidey &$%*@! thought it would be funny to remove my left wing mirror, along with that of any other car parked down Tate's Avenue around lunch time today.
The one small joy in this outrage is that once again, it is proved that tape can in fact, fix any problem.

applying yourself
Job applications suck. This is for many reasons. Firstly, because it implies you are in need of (a) a job, or (b) a change, and are therefore dissatisfied with your lot, justifiably or otherwise. Secondly, because every application is different, so the struggle to create the perfect personal statement is recurring and ongoing. And thirdly, because the process is so drawn out. That is:
The exceptions to this lengthly sum, from my experience, are schools (will usually decide on day of interviews who to employ) and Centra (filled out a form, met the manager, agreed when to start.) Unfortunately, I neither want to teach, not get abused for constantly eating during my shift again...
Leave for Brazil in about 27 days, and realistically need to be employed before then.
Gizza job?
Hearing about job + Request application pack + Complete application + Submit + Wait to hear + Receive notification of interview + Prepare for interview + Go for interview + Agonise
+ Get rejected again = At least a month.

lip service
Spotted this comment on ASBOJesus in response to a request from Jon for people to vent their spleens and bear their bugs to help him see what issues he should tackle. Though it was definitely worthy of being stolen and praised. I like the idea that this probably too the author all of a couple of minutes to spill out.

Here are my favourite Christian chat up lines.
The Lord told me… so it has to be true.
Can I tell you something in Love……
Maybe you need deliverance…..
What would Jesus do…….
Are you saved……
Do you speak in tongues….
What sort of Christian are you…….
How are you today………..
There is nothing to pray about……..
I want everyone in this place to close their eyes….
Don’t fight the spirit just give in and come to the front………
We have people here who can council you……….
After the service there will be coffee and tea for those who can manage to drink it………
If you just look at the screen my powerpoint presentation will change your life forever……..
Does anyone know the hymn “For thou art a very difficult song to play on the guitar”…..

upward struggle
Of all the tasks that are currently causing me to tear little strips of skin off, possibly the most agonising is not the School Based Project (the final big assessment for the PGCE year - so big, you get a month "off" to do it) but rather trying to write tailored personal statements for job applications. A couple of months ago I vehemently warned a year 10 class to get familiar with the styles of personal statements now, because they would spend the next ten years writing them. I wish I'd been joking!
Selling yourself just isn't easy. Particularly when the pressure's on. A month today I head off to Sao Paulo, Brazil with Tearfund - which is amazing, but also pretty much ensures that I need to have sorted out (a) employment, (b) housing, and (c) life before then.
Continuously fighting the urge to curl up into a ball and rock backwards and forwards.
On a lighter note, went for a walk in Donegal in the glorious weather on Monday, and a big rock got in the way...
